If Reddit Tube hopes to “disrupt” porn the way that social media disrupted communication and interaction, it might want to put in a little bit more elbow grease. While all of the content is free, it’s also generally clips or previews with no consistency regarding resolution (and no way to know ahead of time).
It also doesn’t help that the site design is a mess with little in the way to help you find what you’re looking for. Instead, Reddit Tube is all of the videos on Reddit without any helpful indexing.

What Am I Seeing?

Reddit Tube’s user interface is, at least, clean, but that’s about the only good thing you say about it. The clean design means finding the few navigable links is fairly easy. However, Reddit Tube blurs out the thumbnails of NSFW content, making it difficult to choose a desired video. It also uses a white background with no dark mode option.

Non-Navigable

Okay, so this is a bit of an overstatement as, yes, you can technically navigate Reddit Tube. But, the indexing system used (if you can even call it that), means that you’re likely going to spend more time looking and searching than you will be watching (let alone actually getting to the fapping part).

A big part of this has to do with the fact that there are no tags or categories or star lists or any other type of organizing system for the content. To be fair, Reddit Tube has an “All Categories” link, but it’s not what you’re expecting. Whereas most porn sites would provide a list of porn categories, Reddit Tube instead provides a disorganized list of captions.

The only kind of clickable link in that context is the “heading” or the “poster” which will often be the same thing. Even worse, Reddit Tube includes two search bars, but neither is that much more helpful. One search bar requires you to post a link from Reddit to the video (but then why wouldn’t you just watch the video on Reddit…?)

The second search bar is for keywords, and this is where you might traditionally expect to have some success. Unfortunately, it’s not a contextual search bar, so more than one-word yields results for each word separately. Even worse, the keyword search bar only provides a single page of results– despite the site hosting many more.

Lots of Rare Porn

The one thing that Reddit Tube has going for it is that it hosts a lot of porn that can be difficult to find elsewhere. A big part of this has to do with the sheer amount of amateur porn that Reddit Tube hosts. However, most of those amateurs only have that title because they don’t work for studios.

Many of the amateur porn stars found on Reddit Tube are also on OnlyFans, ManyVids, and other “amateur” porn pay sites. Keep in mind that many of those amateurs live on the money they make producing porn. After a certain point, they really shouldn’t be considered amateurs anymore.

Of course, you can still find plenty of genuine amateurs on Reddit Tube from numerous places– not just Reddit. Snapchat porn and other encrypted social media apps host numerous porn videos. Without Snapchat (and sometimes a premium subscription), it can otherwise be difficult finding those vids.

Inconsistent Quality

As great as it is to find porn that’s scant or otherwise rare, it’s only as good of a find as the quality of the porn itself. Unfortunately for Reddit Tube, that quality can be a bit hit or miss– and even worse, there’s almost no way of knowing ahead of time– even if you’re able to see the thumbnail preview.

However, it’s worth remembering that there’s a big difference between “inconsistent” and downright “bad.” While plenty of the porn hosted on Reddit Tube would be considered “bad” by different people for one reason or another, most of the time there’s just something off about it that sours the mix.

While Reddit Tube may host plenty of full-length videos and even occasionally movies, the overwhelming majority of vids hosted on the site are clips. Likewise, while many videos on the site play in some form of HD resolution, just as many play in SD– or even in a worse definition like 240p.

Lots of Everything, Actually

The jury is still out on whether this is a good thing or not given you probably find your way to Reddit Tube looking for porn. However, Reddit (and most social media sites in general) favor content that’s safe for work. It’s the NSFW content that tends to be the exception rather than the rule.

To that end, Reddit Tube isn’t just a great place to find porn that’s posted to too many other places on the internet. It’s also a great place to find pretty much any kind of video that the internet has to offer. If you’re looking for gifs (adult or otherwise) or just something entertaining, Reddit Tube hosts numerous different vids that have nothing to do with adult content or the NSFW tag.

Good Connectivity

A Surprising Twist

Given how low effort Reddit Tube’s web page design is, you’d be forgiven for assuming that the video player is just as low effort. However, in a sudden turn of events, Reddit Tube zigs when most would expect it to zag and provides a solid video player. Granted, this is almost a must-have function when you consider how poorly so much of the other site runs.

Sure, the site itself doesn’t crash, but there’s little more you can do to intentionally navigate it aside from hoping and praying. Given how little control you have when navigating the site, it’s a bit of a surprise that you don’t have those issues when watching videos too. Though, that’s not to say the video player is perfect.

For starters, there’s no way to change the video’s resolution and, if the video doesn’t have sound, the volume slider isn’t present either. On the other hand, no matter how often you skip (which won’t matter for many of the vids), the player generally only requires a few seconds to load.

Granted, Reddit Tube’s video player runs into the same problem as many others in that skipping to the preload can cause some loading issues. Thankfully, none of the tests resulted in the dreaded infinite loop. Reddit Tube’s video player didn’t crash once– though most of the vids are less than a few minutes, making it tricky to be able to crash the vid enough if the player otherwise might.

Final Thoughts

It’s not too often that a porn site has to hang its hat exclusively on a newly developing niche without anything else to show for it. Given how developed porn sites and the porn market are, it doesn’t seem to bode well for that philosophy’s future. Though, people thought the same thing when the internet started– or later when social media hit the scene.

At present, it feels a bit too soon to be able to call how Reddit Tube’s approach will work– especially given how much this site gets wrong. In terms of design (on both the front and backend), it feels like Reddit Tube is the epitome of “low effort” and presents a big enough hurdle to progression that the site lives or dies more at the audience’s whim than anything else.

From the ugly and unhelpful user interface to the virtually non-existence indexing system, using Reddit Tube is almost a chore– and a big part of online porn is making it convenient. On the other hand, if you’re interested in discovering some of the newest up-and-comers in the amateur porn arena, there might not be a better site out there.
